Welcome to the Community

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 17, 2005, 7:53 AM
:fella:

Here you are wondering what is a Christian Goth and what is this community business??

:community:

A community on DA is a group of like-minded individuals. For instance there are communites for those who love Snape from Harry Potter ()

We exhibit the artwork :deviation: of our members, thus giving everyone a larger forum for their work. Members should, when able, visit the original artist who submitted the work, :excited: comment, and check out that person's gallery. Communites on DA are prohibted from making favorites of members work and discouraged from having favorites at all. :(

~*~ TO JOIN CHRISTIAN GOTHS ~*~

Please join us. :skull: Send us a note! Please send a note! Requests made on the front page may not be seen depending on the volume of comments left. We welcome any Christian and any supporter of what we are trying to do. Once you are a member we will devwatch you and ask that you will consider doing the same. If after a week or so you don't see Christian Goths as a new watcher let us know and we'll correct it.

~*~* ONCE YOU JOIN SUBMIT ARTWORK ~*~

To submit your artwork please send in a note with the link(s) to the pieces you would like displayed. :) Devwatching the group is a good way to see new pieces as they come up. Artwork need not contain a religious theme as the creative process itself is profoundly tied to God.

~*~ WHAT! CHRISTIAN GOTH! ERRR?? WHAT'S THAT!!! ~*~

:cynic:

I started this group with those Christians in mind who are off the beaten path of typical main-stream culture. And yes, you know it when you're this way. I had in mind those who hold the light of Christ, but live in the shadows. This may include fans of music, literature, art, and film that enjoy horror, dark comedy, dark fantasy, atypical comic books, anime, manga, etc. This group would be no different from say, Christian Sport Fanatics. It's a lifestyle. Christianity is a beautiful thing, in that, no matter your culture/sub-culture anyone can be a Christian. So a darkly Romantic person who joins this group would have everything in the world in common with a peasant farmer living in China, if they both have Christ in their hearts.

Statement of Faith --Please note that this is not a requirement to become a member of this group. We welcome everyone regardless of your background. We only ask that you read and at least consider the statement.

It's not so much that a Christian likes horror movies , but that, like most people, we get an adreneline rush from the constant oh-snap-that-guys-right-behind-the-door-DON'T-GO-IN-THERE , feeling that we get. For instance, I don't like scary movies, but I'll watch them between my eyes, just to shreek and squeel. Or maybe I'm completely wrong....
ah well, God bless.

I haven't made any judgments at all. I am merely a studious person, particularly interested in religion and their followers. The idea of a Christian Gothic lifestyle, however silly it seems to me, is fascinating at the same time. Thank you for the link, although I'm still reading through all of it. Again, I will get back when I'm done.

Finally! Someone with good information! Everyone before me has just told me WHY they are Christian Goths. This actually TELLS me what Christian Goths are about, what the connections are, and so forth. Lemme read-up on this, and I'll get back to you all.

So just because I don't see how Christianity and Gothic lifestyles don't fit together, I am stupid? Just because I am not a Christian Goth, I'm mislead? The point of the Gothic lifestyle is to envelop yourself in the darkness, in the hate, in rancor and disgust for all of humanity. Christian or not. In fact, a large sect of the Gothic populace is Satanic. However gentle and clean Gothicism is, I don't see, and probably never will, how they go hand in hand. You have done nothing to try to show me how they do, you just told me how the lord helped you in a specific way. You made one connection after calling me an idiot, and rambled on about the Lord helping you. However, thank you for your time, and effort.

Oh, dearest, how stupid and mislead you are.

Gothicism and Christianity go hand in hand. Gothicism is so clean, so gentle. As is He. In our dark but warm woven selves, it is quite easy to accept His light, for His light contradicts a darkness, not our darkness. We created our own darkness, a darkness apart from satan and his pain. I identify with The Creator because in a time of spiritual warfare, He came to my aid. And so, I found we are One. I am a small part of The Living Body of Christ, for He has done so much for me already.

What a beautiful site! And I do believe I'm already a friend of your myspace... [link] is mine. And the following is my website: [link] . It's in desperate need of an overhaul, but I know only enough html to make it look as it does now. My apologies in advance...

So how are you this fine evening?

Thank you for the link. I think I've been to your site once or twice, but not in a while.

I think you might be underestimating God's ability to accept people's uniqueness. Is a suit-and-tie dad or minivan-soccer mom going to go out and share the Word with the hardcore goths? Not very likely. Then you have to add in that there is a large chance that the "normals" won't be accepted by the goths. (especially in the school-aged people.) Then there is the large range of "goth" and "Christian."
You have a wide range of light-weight to harcore on either side.

I am a "goth" and I happen to love Jesus. He's more amazing than we give him credit for, and I'm glad He doesn't conform Himself to our tiny comprehension of His grace and mercy.
He gave us choice and personality for a reason.
